The Sunset Valley Savanna trail is a trail along Cougar Creek, a small tributary to Williamson Creek in Austin, Texas. Mend Collaborative was asked to create a design that enhances the City’s commercial district, encourages community to gather, and minimizes environmental impact.

The design features an ADA-accessible trail loop throughout the property’s ecologically sensitive floodplain area that connects residents to nature, showcases art in a natural setting, and builds upon the existing trail network. Along the trail, natural stone benches allow visitors to relax and enjoy nature, while a rock scramble invites playful exploration of the floodplain.

Mend created a strategy for re-establishing native plant communities to support pollinators and wildlife.
